Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz (SiO2) and owes its violet colour to irradiation, impurities of iron and other transition metals. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst and made drinking cups decorated with it in the belief it would prevent Drunkenness.

Jasper is an opaque rock which can be virtually any colour, stemming from the mineral content of the original sediments. Patters arise during the consolidation process, in the silica rich sediment or volcanic ash. Dalmatian Jasper shows a distinctive spotted appearance. Said to be useful for controlling the emotions and a good stone for soothing the nerves.

Bloodstone, also called Heliotrope is a variety of jasper or chalcedony. The classic bloodstone is green jasper with red inclusions of hematite. The inclusions resemble spots of blood, hence the name "Bloodstone". Believed to improve the sense of creativity, decision making and intuition. Said to help purify the blood and clear toxins.

Sodalite is a rock star gem that emanates such intense blue vibes it might as well be plugged into the wall at full power. Make no mistake, this stone is brimming with electricity that will blow your mind and keep you on your toes even if it's just sitting there in your pocket. Sodalite by some, is believed to emit waves of peace given its ability to calm, promote happiness, and reduce stress but don't be lulled into thinking it can slip up easily - this so-called "soft" mineral has some serious toughness behind those powerful hues of navy blue. Colourful Gemstones are good for what ails ya' so stock up on these tumbled stones if you're looking to gain clarity about past mistakes.

Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass firmed in igneous rock. It is produced when lava flowing from volcanos cools rapidly. Obsidian is hard with very sharp edges, which were used in the past in cutting and piercing tools. Small, white, clustered crystals of cristobalite in the black glass produce snowflake pattern. Believed to be a 'stone of purity' bringing balance to the body, mind and spirit. Said to be beneficial for the skin and veins

Blue Striped Agate falls under the family of Quartz. Each stone has colours that include blue, white and brown. Blue Striped Agate is used for its metaphysical properties or for scientific reference.

Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, CaF2. Pure fluorite is transparent, both in visible and ultraviolet light, but impurities usually make it a colourful mineral with shades ranging from clear, to green and purple. The Romans mined fluorite in England to make their tables and goblets.

Carnelian is a brownish-red and is a variety of the silica mineral chalcedony coloured by impurities of iron oxide. It was used widely during Roman times to make engraved gems for signet or seal rings for imprinting a seal with wax on correspondence or other important documents. A good balancer, said to connect you with your inner self, and aids in concentration. Believed to benefit the lungs and liver.

Citrine is a variety of quartz whose colour ranges from a pale yellow to brown. It’s chemical composition is SiO₂. The name is derived from the Latin word “citrina” which means yellow. It is a semi-precious gemstone which forms when Amethyst is subjected to great heat.

Turquenite is Magnesite dyed blue, which can be cut, drilled and polished to form beads that are used in jewelry making. Magnesite can be dyed into a broad spectrum of bold colours, including a light blue colour that mimics the appearance of turquoise.

Howlite is a calcium borosilicate hydroxide (Ca2B5SiO9(OH)5), is a borate mineral found in evaporite deposits. The most common form of howlite is irregular nodules, sometimes resembling cauliflower. It is commonly used to make decorative objects such as small carvings or jewelry components.

Tiger’s Eye is a golden to red-brown colour, with a silky lustre and a member of the quartz group with the chemical composition is SiO₂.. Its appearance is from parallel growth of quartz crystals and altered fibres that have mostly turned into limonite.

Quartz is a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen atoms (SiO4). Also known as Rock Crystal, it was believed by the ancient Greeks to be deeply frozen ice that would never thaw. Pure quartz is the clear variety, and quartz with imperfections and traces of other elements is what creates the coloured varieties. It is one of the most common semi-precious stones found throughout Australia.

Rose quartz is a type of quartz which exhibits a pale pink to rose red hue, this arises from traces of iron and titanium in the quartz. Depending on where the stone was mined, it may also contain trace or fibre inclusions of rutile or a borosilicate similar to dumortierite. This inclusion produces a lovely star or cat's eye like effect in the stone which makes it ideal for use in jewelry.
