Jasper is an opaque rock which can be virtually any colour, stemming from the mineral content of the original sediments. Patters arise during the consolidation process, in the silica rich sediment or volcanic ash. Dalmatian Jasper shows a distinctive spotted appearance. Said to be useful for controlling the emotions and a good stone for soothing the nerves.
